Ms Hollidays Cover Work. . .

Introducing Audience
Media has an effect on every one since we consume it through our everyday life. There is media all around us and some believe that it may affect us in a negative way however there are other critics who argue that it does not affect individuals in anyway.

Historical Background
‘Media’ is a recent term used to name the fantasies that people may have thought about back in history. Then leisure time was spent reading, writing and doing other active activities, instead of watching a film they would be more sociable and go to the theatre or musical in their free time. Unlike now when the media ha evolved and taken a new form to overrun the lives of many. The media had lead to people becoming much less interactive and less sociable and also in severe cases can lead to poor health through lack of exercise when children stay at home and play video games rather than become active and actually go out. Thought it can also bring us together as we can relate to the situations like in soap operas, etc.

The Audience as a Mass
MEDIA AUDIANCES:
• The media are often experienced by people alone.
• Wherever they are in the world, the audience for a media text are all receiving exactly the same thing.

This leads us to come up with media audiences, as masses. Early theorist believed that when we sit in the cinema or thereter or listen to the same music we become part of media masses. It can be very easy, living in this media saturated world to forget how strange this might once have seemed. These media quickly became extremely popular and at the same time there was an important difference between them and older forms of entertainment. Whereas in the past, many forms of entertainment were only available to those who could afford them, now suddenly films and radio particularly were available to all. Early media theorists struggled to understand this and found it easiest to compare the media audiences with the kinds of crowds they were used to from the world before the media – they came up with the ideas of the mass audience.

N* B* S* . . .

A lot of the shots inside the bus are close ups or medium shot this may have been done in order to show some of the mise-en-scene but more over to show the facial expressions and emotions shown by the characters. The mise-en-scene inside the bus shows the seats to be very close together and the lighting is high-key to show that it is daytime. Also the characters are dresses very normal in order to create a sense of realism and identification with the audience is created as they may be able to identify with the character. Mack-up and costume is also made to be very ‘normal’ for the same reasons too.
