Individual Case Study

*KiiDULTHOOD Trailer. .

What Is a Trailer?
Trailers are film advertisements for films that will be exhibited in the future at a cinema, on whose screen they are shown.

The term "trailer" comes from their having originally been shown at the end of a film programme. Trailers are now shown before the film (or the A movie in a double feature program) begins. Besides in front of theatrical releases, movie trailers have now become extremely popular on the internet. Of some 10-billion videos watched online annually, movie trailers rank #3, after news and user-created video

K
iiDULTHOOD?

'Kidulthood
(rendered as KiDULTHOOD) is a 2006 British drama film about the life of several teenagers in the deprived Ladbroke Grove and Latimer Road area of Inner West London. It was directed by Menhaj Huda and written by Noel Clarke, who also stars in the film and directed the sequel, Adulthood.'

KiiDULTHOOD is a British film that has a target audience of teenager however also targeting a secondary audience of parents and teachers. It was a British hit when it was released as it was based on the lives of West London
’s teenage society relating to everyday lives of its target audience. The trailer that I have looked at has a very upbeat tune and very cut up and quick edited shots. It is an effective low budget trailer witch is very useful for me since it is similar to what we have in mind for or own media productions.

2008 Media Awards Film Review...

1st Place*
Silent Pain
. . .I believe 'Silent Pain' should have won the best film since it covers a very serious issue that many people may not even have been aware of. Also the film it self was a very well put down production that clearly showed us that a lot of time and effort had been put into it. Although it was a very sensitive issue they considered ethical issues very well, furthermore it was and interesting rather than boring documentary.

2nd Place*

Crime
. . .'Crime' should have come second since it covered a very major issue amongst this age group providing us with a very positive outlook, it was a very well thought of and overall excellent production, it would have well deserved second place.

3rd Place*

Kuch To Hua Hai
. . .Last but not least I have decided to put ‘Kuch To Hua Hai’ as third since it was a very hard genre to follow against a western society however this group followed the conventions of a Bollywood movie very well. It was a fantastic production all round.

My Ideas on How to Regulate the Internet . . .

Harvy Sahota's PrOpOsAl.. x

Issues That Will Be Raised If Internet Regulation Is Not Carried Out...

  • -Internet connections may be slowed down.
  • Businesses will face damage & major loss.
  • Computers will face the danger of being hacked.
  • Information posted up on the internet may become meaningless and unnecessary since anyone and everyone will be able to edit and post up their own blogs.

What I Think About The Issues Surrounding Being Able To Access Ideas From All Over The World Publishing Our Words & Images. . .
To begin with, this suggests that people are now capable of viewing ideas from all over the world. The public can now get hold of public information alongside private information, such as a persons name, social background, age, what their likes & dislikes are & other personal information. This may lead to serious issues such as major fraud. Information can now be viewed by anyone using the internet. Therefore, we do not know which type of people can be reading through profiles. Many people are severely concerned about the facts on whether the people viewing the profiles are teenagers or people over the age of 30, since this could come across as paedophilia.

Who Would Be Responsible For Internet Regulation?
I believe that a new organisation should be made in order to look at what things are posted onto the internet, and restrict any information which they believe could cause serious harm to people or disrupt any activities e.g. if a site is made with false information about somebody then that could be stopped by this organisation as it could harm their life/career.

Are There Any Existing Bodies Who Could/Should Do This?

There is already a company called ICCAN which is a non-profit corporation that is assuming responsibility from the U.S. Government for coordinating certain Internet technical functions, including the management of Internet domain name system.

Would It Require A New Organisation?

Personally I don’t believe it would require a new organisation to regulate the internet because if the existing corporation starts to reinforce stricter rules on the information which is posted onto the internet, it would automatically help regulate the system.

H
ow Would It Be Monitored?
In order to monitor the net, I think that some sort of fire wall or a similar devise should be made so that nothing can be posted or blogged up on the net through a virtual world, without being monitored. This way the danger of issues such as paedophilia and other similar issues will become reduced.

*An AnThRoPoLoGiCaL Introduction to YouTube.

After watching the clip, “An Anthropological Introduction to YouTube I found some interesting facts…*

60 SUCCESFUL YEARS- since ABC has been broadcasting-!

YouTube has produced more than this in the last 6 MONTHS. However this may not have been achieved without the help of the producers… YOU!

YOUTUBE Was Created To Benefit The Media Consumers Throughout "New forms of expression, New forms of community, & New forms of identity emerging"

Whos Is On YouTube?

Today’s society will tend to believe, that YouTube is above all viewed by teenagers because 25% of the videos posted on YouTube mostly have 12-17 year olds featured in them. People would not expect the older generation to be involved with anything to do with YouTube since younger people are more known to view it, nevertheless it is said that 25% of YouTube videos feature a 35year old or over.

YouTube As a Medium Of Society. . .

Michael Wesch and his students went back to the idea that when media changes human relations change, an example of this is how they were able to build a community through the use of webcams. A video was made by one of Wesch’s students showing that she is actually talking to her webcam and not the users of YouTube and that even though when someone views the video it may appear that she is talking to them but she doesn’t know who they are.

“The Little Glass Dot, The Eyes of the World”
The Little Glass Dot is Wesch’s poem, it talks about the webcam being the eyes to the World.

The webcam can be many things but it cannot just be one thing, it can be there for us to strive for fame or to just simply connect.

The Little Glass Dot is not what you make of it but what we make of it. . .

Conclusion Of An Anthropological Introduction To YouTube
Conclusion By B.Nessel 1873
People believe that the videos on YouTube are created for hopes to change the world; however B.Nessel made his to help him live in this world! YouTube, brought him life again because it became a form of therapy for him and it allowed him to act how he wanted, and feel the way pleased him.
